Alexandra Soumm
Concerts, new music and social engagement
Alexandra Soumm grew up in Montpellier and continued her training with Boris Kuschnir in Vienna. She won the Eurovision Young Musicians competition in 2004 and was a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist from 2010 to 2012.
She has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the London Philharmonic and the Orchestre de Paris. Her chamber music and personal projects also explore literature and contemporary music. Her album Paris est une fête, released in 2024 with the Orchestre de chambre Pelléas under Benjamin Lévy, features works by Ravel and Milhaud.
In 2012 Soumm and two colleagues founded Esperanz’Arts. The organisation presents concerts in hospitals, prisons, homeless shelters and schools for children with disabilities, among other venues.
