Ondrej Janoska
From the orchestra to his own ensemble
Ondrej Janoska was born in Bratislava in 1985 and attended the State Conservatory there. From 2000 he studied with Boris Kuschnir at the Vienna Conservatory and the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.
From 2008 to 2012 he played in the first violin sections of the Vienna State Opera Orchestra and the Vienna Philharmonic. Since its founding in 2013 he has devoted himself to the Janoska Ensemble.
With his brothers Roman on violin and František on piano, and double bassist Julius Darvas, he develops arrangements in which improvisation plays a central role. The ensemble’s releases on Deutsche Grammophon include Janoska Style, Revolution and The Big B’s.
